Computing
Strong computing skills are vital in today’s high-tech world. It is essential that our pupils become competent users of ICT. In today’s workplace, being able to type is as important as having good handwriting, and children need to be taught to confidently create, analyse and share digital content.
More recently, the concept of computer science has also been rightly emphasised as an important aspect of the primary curriculum. Teaching skills such as computational thinking and coding equips pupils to use technology in a wide range of situations, and allows them to develop not only their logical and analytic skills, but also their creativity. Other core competencies developed through computer science, such as perseverance and collaboration, are pre-requisites for success across the entire curriculum.
Additionally, in our fast-paced and rapidly changing world of digital and social media, it is vital that pupils are taught to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.
