Learning another language gives our children the opportunity to deepen their understanding of people and the world around them. Children should be able to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and understand and respond to speakers, both in speech and in writing. Language teaching should also provide the foundation for developing an interest in other countries and instil an enjoyment of the subject. At Monks Orchard, our children have the opportunity to foster their curiosity about how language works and to develop skills they can apply to other areas of their learning.
